What is the Regional School for Political Development?

The Regional School for Political Development is a non-formal educational and practice-oriented program that promotes lifelong learning and leadership development for young people from Croatia, North Macedonia, and Serbia, It is designed to strengthen democracy, responsible public engagement, and active citizenship, demand transparency, and create more accountable public institution.

The School was first launched under an Erasmus+ project focused on green public policies and successfully completed its initial cycle in August 2025. That project itself grew out of the long-standing cooperation and shared commitment of the three partner organisations to democratization, cross-sector dialogue, and cross-border collaboration.

With new support from the U.S. Department of State (the U.S. Embassy in Croatia) through the project The NextGen Transparency, the School continues independently and enters a new phase with a clear mission:

to fight corruption, promote transparency, and advance open government.

Driving Change: Our Core Goals

The Regional School cultivates the values of democratic governance, integrity, and active citizenship, while promoting lifelong learning, solidarity, openness to new ideas, and sustainable development. Building on these principles, we pursue three interlinked goals:

Empowerment – Equip young people with knowledge and practical skills to initiate and oversee transparent public policies.

Action – Support participants in designing and piloting practical initiatives and public policy solutions that address key democratic, social, and environmental challenges in their own communities.

Networking – Build a strong cross-border network of young activists and professionals ready to collaborate beyond the program.

Strong Partners. Shared Vision.

The Regional School is a joint initiative of:

  • Academy for Political Development (APR, Croatia)
  • Foundation BFPE for a Responsible Society (Serbia)
  • Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM, North Macedonia)

All three organisations are members of the Council of Europe’s Network of Schools of Political Studies, a community connecting emerging leaders across Europe and beyond.

Through this network we promote democratic societies, human rights, and Euro-Atlantic integration, and we have been collaborating for many years on education, dialogue, and policy innovation.

Open for Collaboration

We believe in the power of dialogue, cooperation, and lifelong learning. The Regional School and its founding organizations welcome new partnerships, joint projects, and knowledge exchange with like-minded organisations, institutions, and individuals across the region, EU and beyond.

Join us in building a more democratic, open, and sustainable society.
