Alumnus of the Regional School for Political Development (RSPD), Davor Džakula, is continuing his professional and academic journey in the field of sustainable development and climate policies by enrolling in the international Master’s program “Smart Sustainable Solutions (ECOLUTION)”. This program, implemented by the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (CZU) in cooperation with partner institutions, is designed to equip young professionals with innovative approaches to green policies, which are of crucial importance for the future of Europe and the Western Balkans.
The ECOLUTION Master’s combines online lectures with study visits in various European cities, offering students a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Its curriculum focuses on climate change, circular economy, sustainable urbanization, and smart solutions for cities and communities, thus preparing participants to actively contribute to shaping green transition policies and practices.
During his participation in RSPD, Davor, together with colleagues from Serbia, Croatia, and North Macedonia, co-authored a policy brief on the phenomenon of Urban Heat Islands (UHI). The document highlighted the challenges faced by regional cities in the context of climate change and proposed a series of concrete measures for adaptation and mitigation, such as expanding green areas, ensuring sustainable infrastructure management, and introducing innovative solutions like solar-powered bus stations with vertical vegetation. This work was recognized as an example of young leaders’ commitment to finding practical responses to global challenges.
By continuing his education through the ECOLUTION program, Davor builds upon this experience and further deepens his expertise in the fields he has been devoted to for years – the Green Agenda, climate justice, and regional youth cooperation. His enrollment is also a testament to RSPD’s vision that its alumni remain active changemakers beyond the program, using their knowledge and networks to shape impactful policies and practices in their communities.
Through this path, Davor continues to link sustainable development and peacebuilding, confirming the importance of engaging young professionals in shaping the future. His academic advancement within the ECOLUTION Master’s program reaffirms the dedication of RSPD alumni to tackling contemporary societal challenges through knowledge, innovation, and international cooperation.
