RSPD Study visit to Brussels – From Ideas to Directives: An Insider Journey into EU Green Policymaking
27, November 2024Following the last study visit to Krk and Rijeka, the Regional School for Political Development (RSPD) organized its second and final study visit, this time to Brussels from November 19 to 22. Building on the insights gained from our previous gatherings, the participants engaged with Brussels decision-makers and stakeholders and discussed green policymaking in the heart of Europe.
The study visit began with a visit to the European Parliament on the first day. Our participants were held a lecture on EU institutions and discussed important topics with Croatian MEPs Gordan Bosanac, Tonino Picula and Karlo Ressler. Following tours of the EP Plenary Hall and the Parlamentarium – EP visitor Center, the RSPD group met with Giulia Gouet, Agroecology Policy Officer of Slow Food International, a global movement acting together to ensure good, clean and fair food for all.
The second day included visits to the European Hydrogen Week and the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development. Before exploring the exhibition held at the Brussels Expo, our participants were held a lecture by Ivan Delibašić, Advocacy Director at Hydrogen Europe, a European association promoting hydrogen as an enabler of a zero-emission society. At DG Agri, our RSPD participants used their opportunity to ask questions and interact with Ana Brnčić, Assistant to the Director-General on different topics, spanning the inner workings of the DG to everyday life in Brussels.
This trip was also a great opportunity to culturally experience not only Brussels, but also other Belgian cities, as the participants were given plenty of free time.
The RSPD group now looks forward to its closing event in Belgrade in March next year.
