The first RSPD seminar in Croatia- Political Institutions, Constructive Dialogue, and Green Politics
8, May 2024The first seminar of the Regional School for Political Development, was held over the weekend in Croatia’s Tuheljske Toplice. From April 19th to 21st, 2024, participants from Serbia, Croatia and North Macedonia gathered to delve into crucial topics: Political Institutions, Constructive Dialogue, and Green Politics.
The event kicked off with a lecture on Political Institutions in the EU and the specific contexts of Croatia, Serbia, and North Macedonia. Experts including Ivan Matić from the Academy for Political Development, Ivanka Stamenić from the Foundation BFPE for a Responsible Society, and Gordana Nestorovska from the Center for Research and Policy Making shared their insights, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the regional political frameworks.
Following the lecture, participants engaged in a workshop where they built posters on Political Institutions in three countries.
The focus of the second day was on Green Politics, with Sofija Babić, Policy Officer at WWF Adria, lecture on Green Politics and Green Policies within the EU context. The following Panel session delved deeper into Green Policies in the EU and Croatia, featuring perspectives from Branko Ančić, Institute for Social Research Zagreb representative and Zagreb City Assembly Representative (Možemo!), alongside Zlatko Galešić, Energy Expert at Siemens Energy Ltd., both alumni of the Academy for Political Development, and Sofija Babić from WWF Adria.
Participants further explored Green Politics through a workshop dedicated to presenting Green Policies in the three countries, facilitating the exchange of ideas and best practices in environmental policy development.
The first seminar of Regional School for Political Development was filled with learning, sharing, and connecting with participants from Serbia, Croatia and North Macedonia who are passionate about green politics. We look forward to continuing this in June in North Macedonia!
